Elon Musk’s Multifaceted Influence on Technological Development

If you have closely been following science and innovation, no one has been trending as many times as Elon Musk. He has been involved in the most significant and most shocking projects globally, becoming a household name synonymous with the future. 

As the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Musk has plans to colonize Mars and thinks Artificial Intelligence may turn humans into its pets. Apart from all the hype, his reputation stands as a hero, always focused on revolutionizing human life’s essential aspects. 

Whether he’s working on electric vehicles (Tesla) or sending rockets into space (SpaceX), he always achieves what most people think is an unachievable dream.

The Hyperloop

Musk has introduced the hyperloop, a man-made transport that uses tubes built underground in tunnels. Musk believes this will enable travel between distances of over 350 miles apart in just 35 minutes. By designing a rail system inside tubes with reduced drag, the pods will be traveling 800 miles per hour. Several experiments of the hyperloop are currently underway. 

Space X 

Musk believes humans can live on planet mars, so he’s on a mission to make human life multi-planetary. Hey, who doesn’t want to leave earth and settle on a different planet? I would possibly want to. Speaking at an astronautical conference in September 2016, Musk outlined his concept for a self-sufficient Mars colony, suggesting his vision is achievable within our lifetime.

Boring company

Just as Musk puts it, a boring solution to traffic is the company he made that can dig tunnels in cities to reduce traffic. Musk took it to Twitter to grumble about the infamous LA traffic. “Traffic is driving me nuts,” “Am going to build a tunnel boring machine and just start digging.” While most Twitter users thought he was joking, the idea started taking shape just one hour later, with Musk revealing a marketing platform and a company name – Boring Company. 

Neauralink 

Founded in 2016, Neauralink wants to merge people’s brains and AI with the help of a Bluetooth enabled processor that sits in the skull and talks to a person’s phone. Last July 2019, the company said human trials would begin in 2020. Musk revealed his latest mission: to merge man and machine. At his neurotechnology start-up Neauralink, Musk is working on a ‘neural lace,’ a device that can be fitted over the brain to give the wearer superfast computing abilities. 

Tesla

Tesla has some considerable developments that have seen the business mogul introduce a new truck with a design similar to those from the future. At the end of last year, Musk unveiled its first electric pickup truck, also known as Cyber track. The release of Tesla Roadster 2.0, has been pushed to 2021 due to COVID-19. By the end of this year, Tesla’s EVs would supposedly have reached a range of 1,000 kilometers on a single charge. Additionally, there are plans for a Tesla fleet mobility service.
