Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A city that is best known for its beer and baseball. Most people don’t consider its vibrant underground rap scene, which has recently emerged with a young artist dropping a hit single with the internet spiraling. Rahsaan Teague, also known as Mace Supreme, is a 19-year-old rapper from Milwaukee whose recent single, Apple Jacks, is doing numbers on the internet, changing the culture around Milwaukee’s rap game. In fact, the song’s music video was reposted by @Rap on Instagram, an account with over 6.4 million followers.

Interestingly enough, the music video, which features colorful animations and dreamy cartoon-like effects, was shot entirely on an iPhone. Mace Supreme said, “I’m just trying to be different. I want to prove that you don’t need a huge budget to create a hit.”

In the modern rap scene, Milwaukee falls short of other major Midwest cities that have produced some of today’s greats. Detroit has Eminem, Big Sean, and Tee Grizzley.  Chicago has Polo G, Kanye West, and Chance The Rapper. On the other hand, Minneapolis birthed Atmosphere and Lizzo. Other than Coo Coo Cal’s #1 hit from 2001, the Milwaukee rap scene has been relatively silent in recent years.

“I want to be the first artist out of my city who really makes it big. Milwaukee has been slept on for too long, and I’m trying to change that. I won’t stop until I’m performing at Rolling Loud.” Mace Supreme said. As an overall goal, he hopes to put his city on the map of rap culture.

Apple Jacks presents Mace Supreme over a trumpet inspired trap beat that paints his burst flows and tight deliveries in an aggressive yet inspiring way. While typically, Mace Supreme isn’t saying anything you haven’t heard before, his catchy hooks and refrains will have you relistening to this infectious hit. As this star continues his rise through the music ladder, he’s certainly thriving under his newfound spotlight.
