We decided to interview Jake T. Davidson, a social media specialist. At the age of 17, the rising senior has reached millions of people through his unique Instagram content style. Namely, through his large page @SaucyCrossup, the teenager believes that the key to media success stems from the personality of your page.

Jake T. Davidson has a long history with social media. Since his start on popular platform “Vine,” he’s been able to amass hundreds of millions of views. Notably, he’s helped scale accounts to over 100,000 followers. Upon asking Jake about his key to Instagram growth, he talked to us about the cruciality of “brand personality.” Jake notes “ a lot of these large pages provide content that isn’t unique in comparison to other media in my feed. Building a personality to your content bridges the gap between an account and a brand.”

Throughout our interaction, Jake put extreme emphasis on this idea. According to him, the best way to take your account to the next level is through a themed personality. “It’s the small stuff. Responding to comments, interactive story polls, producing original content, theming your account, all of these minor changes can make a massive difference” Jake T. Davidson is a strong believer in these social media branding efforts, stating “when I see pages with large audiences settling for being anything less than a brand, it doesn’t make sense to me. Making that jump only takes a small amount of effort. Even if it’s responding to a few comments, those small things can help you go the extra mile.”

Jake frequently uses these interactive elements in his content. His videos typically include captions that ask questions. He states “adding that element of discussion into my videos really helps with my engagement. It turns my post into a discussion forum for people who care about the subject. Being able to interact with comments helps me establish my personality. It’s important for people to understand that my page is run by humans, not robots. The biggest mistake an account can make is allowing their content to be limited by bland captions and non-interactive prompts.”

His media knowledge has helped Jake build a platform to share his opinions. Whether it be managing pages for clients, growing his personal brand, or building up his many niche accounts, Jake has always been an avid user of social media platforms. He frequently networks with other creators and hopes to use the experience to point him in the right direction for college and beyond. As his pages continue to grow, Jake T. Davidson is slowly becoming a young public figure.
