iCarly fans were left heartbroken in 2012 when the show officially came to an end. So when Paramount+ recently announced the classic Nickelodeon series and its original cast of memorable characters would be revived, viewers were stoked.

Former iCarly stars, including Miranda Cosgrove (Carly), Nathan Kress (Freddie), and Jerry Trainor (Spencer), will be reprising their roles in the upcoming show, which will be on the Paramount+ streaming service. Earlier this month, an announcement came out on social media on Miranda’s 28th birthday that the series will premiere on June 17.

The season, which will be developed by Jay Kogen (The Simpsons, School of Rock) and Ali Schouten (Champions, Merry Happy Whatever), also reveals two new characters – Laci Mosley as Harper, Carly’s roommate, and best friend; and Jaidyn Triplett as Millicent, Freddie’s stepdaughter.

Unfortunately, Jennette McCurdy will not be returning to the revival. The actress, who played the mischievous Sam Pickett and Carly’s best friend, recently revealed she quit acting. “I resent my career in a lot of ways,” she said on an episode of her Empty Inside podcast. “I feel so unfulfilled by the roles that I played and felt like it was the most cheesy, embarrassing. I did the shows that I was on from like 13 to 21, and by 15, I was already embarrassed.

There’s also no word yet on the return of popular iCarly side characters such as Gibby (Noah Munck), the group’s eccentric and often-shirtless friend, and T-Bo, the hilarious manager at the Groovy Smoothie.

The revival will feature a 13-episode season and will pick up nearly 10 years after the original ended, which ran from 2007 to 2012. The plot will follow Carly in her 20s as she navigates her life with friends, love, and family while dealing with being an internet personality. Along with Carly, much has changed as Freddie has “gone through a couple of divorces,” and Spencer has become “very successful.”

The show will take place in a remodeled version of the iconic Spencer Shay Apartment, teased by Miranda on her latest Instagram video. “An updated set tour of the iCarly apartment with @jerrytrainor. Spencer is wealthy now, and @jerrytrainor is enjoying it a little too much,” she wrote in her caption.

“We really tried to make this show as much for the fans of the original as possible, because it’s not really a kid show anymore,” Miranda Cosgrove said in an interview. “It’s mainly made for the people who watched when they were little, they’re now more in their 20s. I’m really excited for people to see it.”
