Quarantine. Boredom. These two words go together like ham and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, or whatever unorthodox food combination you indulge in. As we sit in our homes for days on end, we continue to look for sources of entertainment. Since the start of this pandemic, many online games have emerged as viable contenders for our time. Recently, a new challenger has entered the realm. Named “Among Us,” this new multiplayer battle royale/hunger games/futuristic sim city has found itself on millions of devices worldwide.

Taking place on an alien-infested ship, ten crewmates seek to repair the ship from imminent destruction. Among them? An Imposter. The Imposter (randomly assigned at the beginning of the game) is set on wreaking havoc on the crew, killing them as the game goes on. The impostor can move throughout the ship’s ventilation system, making it easy for them to kill a crewmate and slink off into the distance as if nothing happened. While the crew is assigned tasks, the impostor sneaks around (blending in, of course) before cornering their victim in the ship’s area.

Whenever an emergency meeting is called, or a body is found, the crew must delegate to find the traitor among them using their knowledge of the ship, the crime scene, and the whereabouts of one another. The rounds continue until the impostor is ejected out of the airlock or the last one remaining.

One thing’s for sure; this game is entertaining. If you’re one of the nine crewmates, you’re entangled in a sherlock-esque mystery with a mixture of fear, curiosity, and desperation. If you’re the impostor, you’re having the time of your life as you watch the startled crewmates fret over a crime that you committed.  It works as a modern-day “Clue!” of sorts, with a unique twist through a futuristic plot.

Within the past couple of months, this game has taken off. Receiving a 9/10 rating on Steam, a 4.5/5 on Google Play, and a 4.25/5 on the App Store, it’s become a hit. Developed and published by InnerSloth, the product has smashed all expectations. Users can experience an hour’s worth of fun and thrill within a few minutes, and then load back up into a new lobby and do it all over.

If you’re looking for a mobile or PC game to get easily hooked onto, Among Us is a perfect match. Be sure to check them out!
