Patrick Mahomes’ Newborn Daughter Receives Athletic Scholarship
For athletes worldwide, earning a scholarship to play sports at a large school can be a life-changing moment. Only 2% of high school athletes receive such an honor, making it a prestigious culmination for training years. It’s a hope that sits in the back of their minds as they practice and play, doing everything they can to bring it into existence. However, for newborn Sterling Skye Mahomes, the recruiting has already started, and she isn’t even a month old.
Patrick Mahomes is one of the biggest names in football and has created a legacy around his name with just a few years in the league. So far, he’s earned an extensive array of awards, multiple super bowl appearances, and a championship win to top it off.
Such a legacy has led to brimming opportunities for everyone surrounding his name, even his recently delivered child.
Patrick Mahomes has been with his Fiancée Brittany Matthews for over eight years. On February 20, they produced a child, Sterling Skye Mahomes.
Much like her father, Sterling’s already been given an athletic spotlight, and organizations are looking to capitalize on what they hope will be a budding prodigy.
Texas Tech, the former school of Patrick Mahomes, has issued an official scholarship intent offer to Sterling, indicating that a spot will be waiting for her during the class of 2039’s female soccer recruiting season.
On Twitter, they wrote: “An early offer, but worth the wait. We’ll be ready for her! @PatrickMahomes @brittanylynne8.”
Attached to the tweet was a graphic of what could be Sterling’s future jersey number, the same #15 that her father wears. Additionally, the family was issued a formal letter of scholarship intent just days after she was born.
The cute gesture has already received nationwide news coverage, with many left wondering whether this will lead to Sterling playing soccer in the future. If she chooses to do so, she’ll be guaranteed a spot on her father’s alma mater.
