Why Giannis Antetokounmpo Went To Chick-Fil-A For A Championship Celebration
In the wake of Milwaukee’s first championship title since 1971, NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo took to an Instagram live stream for some post-win antics.
The newly crowned finals MVP boasted a surprising stat line during his game six outing against the Phoenix Suns, capping off at 50 points and 14 rebounds across 42 minutes of play.
In doing so, he easily won the title of finals MVP after his legacy-defining championship with Milwaukee’s Bucks.
After fulfilling his idol Kobe Bryant’s previous challenge of winning a championship, many have argued that Giannis Antetokounmpo is now edging towards being one of the NBA’s best players ever. Such a conversation may soon put him and his accomplishments on par with power forward legends like Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan, and Kevin Garnett.
But Giannis Antetokounmpo, a prominent showman who likes to have fun on and off the court, doesn’t seem to be phased by his name being used in debates with some of the NBA’s best. Recently, he found a unique way to celebrate his win alongside 150,000 of his fans.
Many know Giannis Antetokounmpo for his fun personality, something that’s drawn him to be one of the NBA’s most loved players.
On Wednesday, he took both the NBA championship trophy and the Finals MVP trophy to no other place than the best: Chick-Fil-A. With 150,000 people watching live, Giannis Antetokounmpo ordered exactly 50 nuggets to compliment the 50 piece that he put up in game 6.
He was heard saying, “Not 51, not 49, chicken minis, 50.”
At one point, he even put the phone camera onto his server and told her that she was taking the order in front of 150,000 people. Taking the order of Giannis Antetokounmpo is one thing, but taking the order of Giannis Antetokounmpo in front of 150,000 people is another.
To address why he insisted on dragging the two pieces of NBA hardware along with him, he said: “These trophies are not leaving my sight. What if, all of a sudden, I wake up and this is all a dream? These trophies are my security, basically.”
